About Kyokushin Karate
Kyokushin Karate has a fairly rich history and is relatively new compared to many older styles. Its promotion has also been highlighted by the many high caliber fighters it has produced, many whom who have achieved success in various martial arts.
Its founder, Mas Oyama, created Kyokushin after taking various aspects from other karate styles and merging them into one practical style. Its formation led to Mas Oyama isolating himself from society and living in the mountains for several years undergoing intense training and self-discipline. This new style of karate quickly became wide spread through the various demonstrations performed by Mas Oyama, becoming renowned by fighting bulls with his bare hands. Its practicality was further demonstrated by challenging fighters around the world in Kumite without once losing. The reputation of this style became wide spread and is as still as strong as it was when Mas Oyama originally created it.
