Beginner classes are designed for lower ranks (generally up to 6th kyu) and provide an introduction to the foundations of Kyokushin. Following the tradition of Kyokushin, classes are conducted in a mixture of Japanese and English, where students are positioned in the class according to rank. Class vary day-to-day but are all designed to teach the principles behind techniques in Kyokushin and reinforce them through repetition. This style of training leads to the development of techniques becoming habits, requiring no thought process for the application of a powerful and effective technique. Strength and conditioning is additionally implemented through varies stances which place great strain on all the muscles in the legs. This is designed to produce strong legs that are necessary in the punishing demands of Kumite. Although these classes are designed for beginners, the skill levels in this class can vary greatly. To account for this, different ranks are taken through different techniques and stances alongside each other. The end result of these classes is to introduce basics and begin the development of increased strength and willpower before commencing the more demanding advanced classes.
